Many people are looking for Eco - Friendly Gardens. Why is this? Food is one of the biggest reasons. Being able to grow your own food and to take control of how and where it is produced is a truly empowering process.

Landscapes orientated around food save money, save energy, recycle waste and increase health and wellbeing, but are they more work? Well, yes and no. Yes there is more work in tending a vegetable garden or maintaining a tree crop than there is in looking after a cactus and a few rocks, but not any more than maintaining a great lawn or ornamental garden, and once things are set up it can be surprisingly maintenance free most of the time.

How is an Eco-Friendly garden going to look?

Like all gardens, that depends very much on the proposed site, however there are some key goals which our Eco-friendly Gardens will try to achieve:

  • Aesthetically pleasing garden structure.
  • Suitable recreational areas, outdoor living, lawn, swimming pool etc.
  • Manipulation of local climate conditions using both hard and soft landscaping methods to create beneficial recreational areas and prolong growing seasons.
  • Food production for as much of the year as possible.
  • Easy to follow crop rotation in any kitchen garden beds.
  • Suitable composting methods for the client.
  • Water harvesting.

A beautiful garden is a beautiful garden no matter what. Your garden is the best place for you to do the most good for the environment, whilst the things we have come to love in our gardens can still be ours.

With a well thought out design you can have a whole lot more.

A balanced carbon- nitrogen mix of plant material which is important for composting.
